Supply of two custom-made screens for the ‘I Feel the Earth Whisper’ exhibition.
We were recently lucky enough to supply the Studio Julian Charrière with two St John's screens for their exhibition currently on show in Germany. The 2 screens are being used for an exhibition at the Frieder Burda Museum in Baden-Baden. The exhibition, entitled ‘I Feel the Earth Whisper’, will run from 15 June to 3 November 2024.
A custom-made request for a unique exhibition
The Studio Julian Charrière contacted us last April to ask us to supply them with 2 freestanding screens. We had already supplied them with similar screens in 2022, but this request was for a new exhibition focusing once again on ecological and environmental awareness. The screens had to offer a viewing area that extended right to the edge to ensure total immersion for visitors.
Timing, production and commissioning
Multivision Screens supplied Studio Julian Charrière with two St-John's screens, each 5m80 wide and 3m30 high, with an exposed aluminium frame and straight corners. To optimise the projection image, we chose a non-perforated grey High Contrast fabric, which has a luminosity gain of 0.8 in frontal projection. St John's, sleek, elegant and only 13cm thick, proved to be the best option for use integrated into the Studio installation.
Once the brief had been defined, the order placed and production completed, we delivered the screens directly to the Museum. The Studio received the screens at the beginning of June, giving them time to install them on site and test the system before the exhibition opened on 15 June. In terms of installation, the screen is placed at ground level and fixed using 4 suspension rings.
The ‘I Feel the Earth Whisper’ exhibition: immersion and reflection
The exhibition celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Frieder Burda Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is perfectly in tune with the theme of the exhibition. It features installations by four artists : sculptors, painters, video artists and photographers, including Julian Charrière.
The exhibition invites us to reflect on our relationship with the planet's ecosystems, and engages us in the role of guardians of these vital spaces. Julian Charrière's installation, entitled ‘Calls for Action’, is a live video, broadcast 24 hours a day, showing a coastal forest in Ecuador. This immersive, participatory installation presents two real-time windows onto forest ecoregions, inviting visitors to come face to face with these threatened ecosystems.
